Hi there. I'm David, an independent web and brand designer for startups and nonprofits with a story to tell.

I believe design can be a powerful tools for connecting people with ideas worth sharing. Whether it's a brand identity for a nonprofit or a website for a startup with something to say, I'm drawn to work that has a story behind it.
I started as a journalist, drawn to the craft of listening and finding the right words. My first job out of college introduced me to something new: design as a storytelling medium. What began as small edits to buttons and images in WordPress and Drupal grew into something I couldn't stop thinking about. Posters. Newsletters. Full websites built from the ground up. Typography. Brand identity. UX. I fell in love with the way visual decisions, like good writing, could inform, inspire, and bring people together.
For over a decade, I've worked as a web and brand designer and front-end developer for mission-driven organizations, government agencies, universities, and startups. I've led full-scale website redesigns, built design systems, and collaborated closely with teams to create work that connects.
Good design does that. It closes the distance between an idea and the people who need to hear it. Bad design creates noise, confusion, and missed connections. That gap is where I do my best work.
If you're building something worth sharing, I'd love to help you tell that story.
